Overview 7
The LDAP protocol allows you to search for information such as fax numbers and E-mail addresses from your
server. When you use Fax, I-Fax or Scan to E-mail server features, you can use the LDAP search to find fax
numbers or E-mail addresses.
Changing the LDAP configuration using a Browser 7
You can configure and change LDAP settings using a web browser. (For more information, see Changing the
LDAP configuration using a web browser (For DCP-9270CDN and MFC-9970CDW) on page 86.)
LDAP operation using the control panel 7
After you configure LDAP settings, you can use the LDAP search to find fax numbers or E-mail addresses for
the following features.
Fax sending

I-Fax sending

Scan to E-mail server (See the Software User's Guide for sending operations)

When you are ready to enter a fax number or E-mail address, follow the steps below:
a Press to search.
b Enter initial characters for your search by using the buttons on the LCD.
Note
You can enter up to 15 characters.
For information how to enter text, see the Basic User's Guide.
c Press OK.
The LDAP search result will be shown on the LCD with before the local address book search
result (For MFC-9970CDW).
If there is no match on the server and the local address book (For MFC-9970CDW), the LCD will show
Results cannot be found. for about 60 seconds.
d Press a or b to scroll until you find the name you are looking for.
To confirm the details of the name, press Detail.
