Troubleshooting

No Paper Fed Manual Slot  If the manual feed slot is empty, put a piece of paper in it.

 Make sure you use paper that meets Brother’s recommended paper

specifications. See About paper on page 5.

 Load the same size paper that you selected in the current driver setting.

Paper Jam Rear

 Clear the jammed paper from the indicated area. See Paper jams and how to

clear them on page 85.

Toner Life End  See Replacing the toner cartridge on page 62.

Toner Low  Buy a new toner cartridge and have it ready for when the Toner Life End status

is indicated.

Cartridge Error  Make sure the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly is installed properly.

Fuser Cover is Open  Close the fuser cover located behind the back cover of the printer.

Drum Life End Soon  The drum unit is near the end of its life. Buy a new drum unit to replace the current

one. See Replacing the drum unit on page 69.

Drum Error  Clean the inside of the printer and the primary corona wire in the drum unit. See

Cleaning the corona wire on page 77.

If your LED's still shows the same error indication after you have cleaned the

corona wire, replace the drum unit with a new one. See Replacing the drum

unit on page 69.

Service Call  Check the LED indication to identify the error. See Service call

indications on page 53.
