Chapter 2 Parts Replacement and Adjustment
9. Replacing timing belt Y
1. Turn off the power.
2. Remove the screws and the X-feed cover
q from the X-cover support plates L and R w.
3. Remove the screws of Y-feed cover U
e to separate it from the Y-feed cover support plate r.
4. Remove the !3 screws of the Y-feed frame t. Remove the Y-feed frame t from the Y carriage y and the rail connecting
plate
u, and shift the Y-feed frame e toward the front.
5. From the top of the Y carriage
y, loosen the bolts of the timing belt setting plate o from the holes of the Y carriage base
i.
6. Loosen the two bolts
!1 securing the Y pulley bracket !0 and the bolts securing the Y feed cover support plate r.
7. Cut timing belt Y
!2 to remove it from timing pulleys A !3 and B.
Notes:
• When replacing timing belt Y, cut it.
• After replacing timing belt Y, reverse the above procedure for re-assembly.
• Adjust the belt tension before installing the Y-feed frame.
• After replacement, make sure that Y-feed resistance is 15 kgf with the tubular frame on, and 16 kgf with the cap frame
attachment on. If the resistance is too great, adjust the Y carriage.
